It is difficult being a goalkeeper, but even more difficult being a goalkeeper’s girlfriend. The endless chat about footwork and gloves, the trips to hospital with broken fingers and skulls. It’s such a niche and under-appreciated part of football that its proponents have to be absolute devotees.
