Tea Shop: The Tea Shops are Souls of India and they are found everywhere and in each Street of India. Almost all the People go to tea shop for a cup of tea and other items sold here include butter biscuit, cigars, bajji, bonda, samosa. People working in Office usually maintain a friendly relationship with the Local Tea Seller and enjoys a cup of tea and samosa with co-workers.
Grocery Shopping: Family buy from Individual Retail Guys shop(We call them “Anachi Kadai” in Tamil) or from a local Super Market.The Shopping is done usually in the First Week of the Month in Credit or Account and the Payment is usually made the Next Month.Suppose they are in need of vegetable or some Grocery like Salt or Sugar,then they send the Boy Child in the family to buy from the corner street shop.
Apparel Shopping: The Cloths are bought only during festival times such as Dewali, Pongal where the Shops offer discounts. Other Times the sales are low or moderate. People are not interest to wear quality clothes as they stay usually in Home while back from Office. There are a few Outings or Tour and many times going to relative marriage is the Outing to the family. Woman usually try to wear the Best collection they have during these times.
Indian Retail Gaints: The Small Individual Seller Shop are mostly shopped by people compared to retail multiplex and Branded Shops. Recently the Business magnets turn to concentrate on retailing and continue to expand their Brands in different cities. The Retail gaints in India include Pantaloon-Big Bazaar, Relaince-Reliance Mart,Relaince Fresh,Tata-Landmark, Titan,WestLand,Indian Oil-Bunk. Some Comparatively Small Players include Birla-More,Nilgiris,UniverCell Mobiles,Hotel Saravanaa Bhavan.
Outside Players: International Sellers such as Bata,McDonalds, KFC, Reebok, Colors of Benetton,Louis Phillipe are popular in India. Rich People may Shop at these Brands and other middle class and poor people usually avoid them and sometime may try to have a look into the shop and come back. A Few Middle class would buy just for the Brand Name.
